Butterboy with Jo, Aparna and Maeve
Butterboy with Jo, Aparna and Maeve
Three chuckle monsters descend on Littlefield every Monday at 8pm, clutching with them a horde of the freshest, silver-tongued comics and phone sex operators this city has to offer. Legends in their own right, these three friends, Aparna Nancherla, Maeve Higgins and Jo Firestone combine forces to host the funniest and best show in Gowanus! Accompanied by the musical stylings of DJ Donwill and the sensual silence of a rotating Idris Elba impersonator, you won't want to miss it. Plus, find out which parts of this blurb are bold, unapologetic lies!

Jo Firestone is a comedian whose work can be seen on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Chris Gethard Show, and heard on WFMU and Earwolf. She was recently named a New Face at the 2016 Just for Laughs Festival, and her Comedy Central half hour comes out this fall. If you like puns, check out her board game, Punderdome: A Card Game for Pun Lovers. If you don't like puns, don't worry about it. You can also see Jo doing stand-up in different basements around the city.

Aparna Nancherla is a comedian of the stand-up variety, but can often be seen sitting. Last year, she released her debut album, Just Putting It Out There, on Tig Notaro’s new label, Bentzen Ball Records and recorded a Comedy Central half hour special. This year, she was named one of “The 50 Funniest People Right Now” by Rolling Stone. Currently, you can catch her on the latest seasons of Bojack Horseman, Master of None and Love, all on Netflix, as well as on HBO's Crashing. She's also written for Late Night with Seth Meyers (NBC) and Totally Biased (FX). Aparna will next appear on the upcoming Comedy Central show, Corporate.

Maeve Higgins is the host of the hit podcast Maeve In America: Immigration IRL. She has performed all over the world, including in her native Ireland, Edinburgh, Melbourne and, most recently, Erbil. Now based in New York, she's made a name for herself there too. In a good way! She co-hosts Neil deGrasse Tyson's StarTalk on National Geographic and has appeared in Comedy Central's Inside Amy Schumer. Her work has been published in The New York Times and The Irish Times, and she is writing a book of essays for Penguin due for publication later this year.
Shane Torres
Shane Torres
Shane Torres is a New York based stand up, writer, host, and actor from Fort Worth, Texas, who got his comedy chops in Portland, OR. He made his late night debut on Conan in 2016. Shane will also be seen performing on AXS’ Gotham Comedy Live and Uproarious for Fuse. You may have also caught him performing on Last Comic Standing (NBC), Ron White’s Comedy Salute to the Troops (CMT), or as a New Face at JFL Montreal (2013). He’s performed at many festivals all over the country including Bridgetown Comedy Festival, RIOT LA, High Plains Comedy Festival, Bumbershoot Music and Arts Festival, and many more. Shane has appeared on popular podcasts such as Savage Love and Comedy Bang Bang. He is the creator of the podcast radio show Help Wanted. Shane has also contributed writing to Splitsider, Paste Magazine, Laughspin, The Portland Mercury, and Nailed Magazine.
Matthew Broussard
Matthew Broussard
Born in New Jersey, raised in Atlanta, and, in 2012, winner of Houston's Funniest Person, Matthew Broussard isn't sure where he's from. Before doing stand up, he earned a degree in Applied Math from Rice University and got fired from being a financial analyst. His comedy relies on his killer timing, subtle wit, and devilish good looks. Also, he's not very witty and his timing could use some work. When he's not drawing puns for his webcomic, mondaypunday.com, he enjoys swimming, using semicolons pretentiously, and resembling a villain from an 80s movie.

Despite earning a coveted spot on Comedy Central’s Adam DeVine’s House Party after only doing stand-up for 18 months, and booking a principle role in the comedy film Intramural, the first feature film he’s ever auditioned for - his Cajun father and Jewish mother still hope he gets an MBA. TV Credits include: Adam Devine's House Party, Last Call With Carson Daly, The League, and The Mindy Project, and MTV's Sex Tips For Girls. Matthew can currently be seen in MTV2’s Guy Code and will soon be seen on MTV2's Not Necessarily News.
Julia Claire
Julia Claire
Julia is a Boston-based comedian whose parents are still hoping she will one day become a lobbyist. She began doing stand-up in the summer of 2014, and since then has quickly become a staple in the Boston comedy scene, pedaling her sharp, almost always self-deprecating jokes to clubs and colleges all over the East Coast and beyond. She has performed in the Boston Comedy Festival, the Limestone Comedy Festival and the Brooklyn Comedy Festival and has opened for Aparna Nancherla, Beth Stelling, Aidy Bryant and Gina Yashere. She has been featured on NPR's You're the Expert and Nerdist's Competitive Erotic Fan Fiction.
Max and Nicky
Think big. Real big. We’re talking big to the Max…and Nicky! Max & Nicky are two big boys making their way in the big city. The twins have got a big show in store with big twin songs, big twin laughs, big twin magic, and big twin bodies all taking place in the big metropolitan area of Minneapolis-Saint Paul (really in the big metropolitan area of New York; that is, at this point in their lives; I mean, who knows what the future holds for them; they could very well be performing soon enough in their dream metropolitan area of Minneapolis-Saint Paul). And most importantly, they’re boys. But not just any boys; they’re two big boys. They’re Max & Nicky!

Max & Nicky are Max and Nicky Weinbach. After staging two very triumphant original musicals in 2013 (Nicky’s Made in China and Max’s A Match Made in Hell) and many awesome 60s-style variety shows, the twins are at it again with more neo-vintage variety fun. With original songs and heartfelt covers, some extraordinary whistling, and a charming yet absurd and quirky sense of humor, Max & Nicky promise to deliver an intriguing and captivating night of entertainment.
Carla Rhodes
Carla Rhodes
CARLA RHODES is a ventriloquist. Hailing from Louisville, Kentucky, she’s been throwing her voice since the age of 9 and was mentored by the legendary Shari Lewis. Notable NYC venues include Bowery Ballroom (opening for Neil Hamburger & Tim Heidecker), Joe’s Pub, Terminal 5 (opening for the Eels), The Slipper Room (where she is a monthly regular) and just about every rock’n’roll, burlesque and alternative comedy venue in NYC. She’s been up and down the ol’ USA from performing in Los Angeles (shows include The Tomorrow Show! & Hot Tub with Kurt and Kristin) to Dragon*Con in Atlanta at the sold-out Puppet Slam. She’s been across the pond to The Glasgow Comedy Festival and appeared on cabaret and vaudeville shows in London too! Whew!

Past honors include Andy Kaufman Award Finalist and performing her solo rock & roll ventriloquism musical “The Continuing Story Of Carla Rhodes” at Ars Nova’s ANT Fest & Joe’s Pub. Notable national shows include CBS Sunday Morning and ABC’s The Gong Show. Current projects include a web series pilot “The Plight Of Cecil” centered around her main character, Cecil Sinclaire. Unfortunately, you’ve most likely seen her cantankerous sidekick CECIL SINCLAIRE in the gutter, not looking at the stars.

Dubbed by New York Magazine as one of the “Ten New Comedians That Funny People Find Funny,” according to Backstage “Carla Rhodes isn’t your typical ventriloquist… She’s intent on shaking up the norm…” and described in NYC’s The Villager as “the Savion Glover of vents, almost single-handedly injecting a notoriously uncool and backward-looking performance branch with a badly-needed kick in the ass,” Carla Rhodes is certainly bringing ventriloquism screaming into the 21st century!
