Drunk Science is an event hosted by comedians Joanna Rothkopf (staff writer at Jezebel), Shannon Odell (neuroscience PhD candidate at Weill Cornell) and Jordan Mendoza (once was pre-med). In each show, three intoxicated comedians compete to present the best scientific dissertation to a panel of real scientists.
Josh Gondelman is a writer and comedian who incubated in Boston before moving to New York City. With years of experience as a preschool teacher and a pretty good guy, Josh charms audiences using his good-natured storytelling and cracks them up with his sharp, pointy wit. Josh’s comedy touches on topics from rainbows to gangsta rap and makes them all equally hilarious thanks to his terrific writing and performing. In 2010, Josh traveled to Atlanta for the inaugural Laughing Skull Comedy Festival, where he turned heads and captured first prize! Since then he has become an in-demand performer on a national scale. He has performed at the Rooftop Comedy Festival in Aspen, CO, and headlined at the Laugh Your Asheville Off Festival in Asheville, NC. More recently he has appeared in the Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival and SF Sketchfest. Josh’s grandmother was especially thrilled to see him on television on G4?s “Attack of the Show” and MavTV’s “Rooftop on the Road.” His first CD, “Everything’s The Best” was released in November of 2011 by Rooftop Comedy Productions.
Jaboukie Young-White is a Brooklyn based comedian from Chicago. He was recently featured in Rolling Stones 25 under 25. He gets off tweets and performs all over the city on the reg. Follow him @jaboukie
Mitra Jouhari is a writer/comedian who lives in Brooklyn. She has written for "Miracle Workers" on TBS, "The President Show" on Comedy Central, and prior to that was a staffer at "Full Frontal w/ Samantha Bee". TV/Film Credits include: "The Big Sick", "Broad City", "Friends From College", "Full Frontal", as well as videos for the New Yorker, IFC, Comedy Central, Above Average, Refinery29's RIOT, and more. Her writing has appeared in McSweeney's, Reductress, Flaunt Magazine, Reality Beach, Splitsider, and Rookie. She is a member of the sketch groups Three Busy Debras and $700 Rules, and hosts a monthly variety show at Union Hall called "It's A Guy Thing". She is from Ohio which is why she is nice.
William Harcourt-Smith, Ph.d
William Harcourt-Smith received his Ph.D in Vertebrate Paleontology in 2002 from University College London, his M.Sc. in Paleoanthropology in 1997 from University College London and his B.Sc. in Physiology from King’s College London. He is currently Assistant Professor in Anthropology at Lehman College and the Graduate Center at CUNY, and a Research Associate in the Division of Paleontology at the American Museum of Natural History. He co-directs the Early Miocene field site of Rusinga in western Kenya. Research interests include the origins of hominin bipedalism, paleoecology and hominoid evolution, primate cranial evolution and geometric morphometric techniques.
