Väsen is a Swedish trio consisting of virtuoso musicians who have been together for 30 years. Playing with a singular sound of modernity deeply rooted in the traditions of Swedish folk music, their instrumentation includes a five-string viola of sophisticated symphonic taste, an adventurous 12-string guitar, and a nyckelharpa (a “keyed fiddle”).

Kardemimmit, is a quartet of women who are pioneers in bringing the Finnish national instrument, the kantele, to new audiences around the world. Their music has a strong foundation in Finnish, Eastern European and Scandinavian traditions. They also sing mesmerizing vocal harmonies along with their kanteles, and the silvery tones of the instruments and the vocals blend beautifully.
