The 1990's NYC indie scene returns with a vengeance! With original members back in town, slowcore pioneers IDA perform their 1996 classic "I Know About You" in its entirety. Critics darlings Beekeeper recreate their 1996 cult favorite "Anywhere Will Do." And the much revered pop-smith Adam Elk (née Cohen) will play the brilliant DIY treasure "Acorn" from 1989 with help from his bandmates in Mommyheads and special guests. And the still mighty Babe the blue OX will play, start to finish, its never-before-heard upcoming album "Babe the blue OX and Other Musical Instruments" just to keep things slightly au courant. All proceeds benefit the family of Jan Kotik, a brilliant musician who was intimately involved in all the above musical acts. Each year, his friends get together to celebrate his life and music around the time of his birthday February 7. Jan's brother, artist Tom Kotik, will bring his brilliant band Sportsman's Paradise to the party.

Ida - (Set time: 10:00 PM)

Ida is a band from New York City. They play an idiosyncratic style of minimalist folk rock music that revolves around complex vocal harmonies and sparse (often acoustic) accompaniments. Although Ida has often been identified with labels like “slowcore” and “quietcore”, they have always played songs that could be described as “kind of fast”, “mid tempo”, “kind of loud”, and “super loud”. Led by songwriters Daniel Littleton, Elizabeth Mitchell, and Karla Schickele, Ida’s current lineup includes violinist Jean Cook (Jon Langford, Anti Social Music) and drummer Ruth Keating (Malarkies, Naysayer). Everyone in Ida sings and is a multi-instrumentalist. Since their start in the early nineties, Ida have released seven full length albums, several EPs and a handful of 7” singles with independent labels including Simple Machines, Dark Beloved Cloud, TigerStyle, and their current home, Polyvinyl Records.
Babe The Blue Ox - (Set time: 11:00 PM)

It would be impossible to classify the style of music favored by the group. Everything from no-wave to new-wave, classic rock to punk, emo to funk, math rock to melancholic pop gets a nod on each of their releases. While the band left RCA after two albums, they continue to write music collaboratively in "the basement focused primarily on the joy of making stuff."
Beekeeper - (Set time: 9:15 PM)

''Really weird arrangements that scrape up against the edge of pop music rules like a grizzly bear with an itch.
Combining mad guitar and beautiful vocal dissonance with Jan's untoppable drumming, insightful lyrics,
and kind personalities, they're everything a band should be.''
For much of the '90s the NYC trio Beekeeper made beautiful rock music and played it around the U.S. and Canada.
They were Jan Kotik (drums), Karla Schickele (bass, vocals), and Matthew Schickele (guitar, vocals).

The Mommyheads - (Set time: 8:30 PM)

The Mommyheads were an American indie pop band who played from around 1987 through 1998. Starting in New York City as the brainchild of singer Adam Cohen (later changed to Adam Elk), the band produced a string of quirky and highly inventive releases on various independent labels - most notably Simple Machines. Their music has been compared to XTC. They relocated to San Francisco in 1990. The band signed to Geffen Records in 1997, producing a single album for the label before breaking up in 1998.
This Adam Cohen is not to be confused with Leonard Cohen's son, also named Adam, who has released major label solo albums as well as recordings with the group The Low Millions. The Mommyheads' Cohen performed solo (and released an album) under the name Adam Elk, to avoid confusion with the other Cohen.
Jan Kotik, original drummer for the Mommyheads, died December 13, 2007 after a three year battle with cancer.
They reunited to record a new CD in 2008.
