BEOWULF - A THOUSAND YEARS OF BAGGAGE

...and they're going to Europe!

Come see this award-winning SongPlay adaptation of the 9th century epic poem, AND help us get across the pond - at the same time! We're taking this huge extravaganza to the Kilkenny Arts Festival and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this August, and we need your help. Come on out and support the cast and the show, and send us on our way with a big, exuberant slap on the ass!

Beowulf – A Thousand Years of Baggage is a riotous, award-winning SongPlay that digs into the roots of the epic poem while echoing the raw and rowdy storytelling of Scandinavian mead halls. Battles emerge in the aisles and on top of tables, plunging the audience into the middle of this unique theater experience. With an explosive, blaring 7-piece band that combines Weillian cabaret, 40's jazz harmony, punk, electronica and Romantic Lieder, turning the stage into a cacophonous swirl.

“…joyfully raucous and silly…brings out the power and the color of the legend…”
-The New Yorker

"Hilarious...clever...has the makings of a cult fave."
-Variety

"The resulting adaptation skewers, celebrates, and deconstructs “Beowulf’’ in an effort to reclaim it from years of academic analysis and return it to its roots as a visceral, pulse-pounding tale."
-The Boston Globe

"...a blend of bawdy, bloody, ironic, lusty and honest. "
-The Hour, Montreal

Best of 2009, The New Yorker

“...a thrashing, bashing rendition of the 'Beowulf' story…with music that demands to be described at demented...” - New York Times
