The New York Times called him "Inspired," and the New York Post said, simply, "Brilliant." Backstage named him the Top New York Comic, saying "There isn't anything Shillue can't do", and fans on the Comedy Central website voted Tom one of the top ten comedians in the country in their annual showdown.
