Ezekiel Honig
Ezekiel Honig
A New York City native, and founder/label manager for the Anticipate and Microcosm labels, Ezekiel Honig concentrates on his idiosyncratic brand of emotively warm electronic-acoustic music. Using the loop as more of a tool than a rule, Honig paints outside the lines, nestling into a comfortable, shared space between muted techno, melodic, event-driven ambient, downtempo and slowmotion house.

Drawing on the rich history of musique concrete, Honig looks to incorporate a material nature into his music by imbuing it with a host of field recording/found-sound sources in the search for a balance between digital software innovation and the physicality of the world around us. Using the sounds of plastic, metal, wood and air in collaboration with Rhodes, guitar, horns, piano and other instrumental origins, his music is one of contrast and contradiction, combining minimal, abstract tendencies with a core of timeless harmonics - pairing inviting, fuzzy chords with clunky and dirty "mishaps."
Xela (DJ set)
Xela (DJ set)
Originally from the UK’s Black Country (the glottal rich manor of Walsall to be exact), John Twells is now based in Massachusetts — from where he runs his Type imprint and casts out dark, yet never suffocating, compositions under the XELA pseudonym. Having recorded a series of collaborations with Brad Rose (aka The North Sea) and Matt Christensen (of Zelienople) to name only two, Twells is best known for his work released under the Xela appellation. Showing an astonishing evolution in sound from early releases such as ‘For Frosty Mornings and Summer Nights', through to the ink-blot atmospherics of ‘The Dead Sea’ and recent releases on Dekorder, SMTG Limited and Digitalis, what originated in the clinical environs of the digital was gradually eroded by thickly hued instrumentation and sublime arrangements — with Twells incorporating a vast palate of sounds and influences that retains sharp and piquant flavour despite the rich ingredients.
Borne
Borne
Borne (Scott Vizioli) plays a diverse montage of musical influences, from experimental ambient to minimal techno and all that lies between. A lover of many styles--and the absurdities of everyday life--he enjoys the chance to blend in the unexpected.

Across the east coast Borne has spread his unique sound in nooks, crannies, forests and concrete boxes ranging from The Bunker to Imagenode's inflatable blinky bubbles and spaces in between. Highlights in 2010 have included Unsound NYC, the Mutek Brooklyn preview and New York stop of the ViceVerse tour.
