Butterboy with Jo, Aparna and Maeve
Three chuckle monsters descend on Littlefield every Monday at 8pm, clutching with them a horde of the freshest, silver-tongued comics and phone sex operators this city has to offer. Legends in their own right, these three friends, Aparna Nancherla, Maeve Higgins and Jo Firestone combine forces to host the funniest and best show in Gowanus! Accompanied by the musical stylings of DJ Donwill and the sensual silence of a rotating Idris Elba impersonator, you won't want to miss it. Plus, find out which parts of this blurb are bold, unapologetic lies!
Jo Firestone is a comedian whose work can be seen on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Chris Gethard Show, and heard on WFMU and Earwolf. She was recently named a New Face at the 2016 Just for Laughs Festival, and her Comedy Central half hour comes out this fall. If you like puns, check out her board game, Punderdome: A Card Game for Pun Lovers. If you don't like puns, don't worry about it. You can also see Jo doing stand-up in different basements around the city.
Aparna Nancherla is a comedian of the stand-up variety, but can often be seen sitting. Last year, she released her debut album, Just Putting It Out There, on Tig Notaro’s new label, Bentzen Ball Records and recorded a Comedy Central half hour special. This year, she was named one of “The 50 Funniest People Right Now” by Rolling Stone. Currently, you can catch her on the latest seasons of Bojack Horseman, Master of None and Love, all on Netflix, as well as on HBO's Crashing. She's also written for Late Night with Seth Meyers (NBC) and Totally Biased (FX). Aparna will next appear on the upcoming Comedy Central show, Corporate.
Maeve Higgins is the host of the hit podcast Maeve In America: Immigration IRL. She has performed all over the world, including in her native Ireland, Edinburgh, Melbourne and, most recently, Erbil. Now based in New York, she's made a name for herself there too. In a good way! She co-hosts Neil deGrasse Tyson's StarTalk on National Geographic and has appeared in Comedy Central's Inside Amy Schumer. Her work has been published in The New York Times and The Irish Times, and she is writing a book of essays for Penguin due for publication later this year.
Sara Schaefer is a critically acclaimed stand up comedian, writer, and producer based in New York City. She won two Emmy awards for her work as the Head Blogger for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, was one of Comedy Central’s Comics to Watch in 2010, and has written for BestWeekEver.tv and Who Wants to Be A Millionaire. She has appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Best Week Ever, E!, Fuse, and AOL. She co-hosts a podcast called You Had To Be There with comedian Nikki Glaser, and is currently working on a pilot for MTV with Nikki.
Danielle Perez is a Los Angeles based stand-up comedian, writer, and actress best known for being the woman in a wheelchair, with no feet, who won a treadmill on The Price Is Right. She appeared as a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live! for her hilarious reaction to winning the awkward prize. Before viral video fame, Danielle rolled onto the Los Angeles comedy scene and quickly established herself as a unique comedic voice with her bubbly stage presence and dark wit. She is a 2018 StandUp NBC Semifinalist and has opened for Maria Bamford and Laurie Kilmartin. Danielle can be heard on multiple episodes of Cameron Esposito and Rhea Butcher’s comedy podcast “Put Your Hands Together” and is a fan favorite at Roast Battle at The Comedy Store. Funny, feminist, and fierce, this bold Latina isn’t afraid to get personal. Danielle has been profiled by CNN’s “Great Big Story”, Elizabeth Bank’s WhoHaha, and Refinery 29. A founding member of Thigh Gap Comedy, she produces GENTRIFICATION, a popular monthly diversity showcase in Highland Park. Danielle has written and appeared in sketches for BuzzFeed, Funny or Die, and Super Deluxe and currently stars in the web series "Thank You Come Again".
Ramy Youssef is an actor, comedian, and director from New Jersey. He can be seen on MTV’s I Just Want My Pants Back and MTV’s Money From Strangers. He has also been featured on BBC, The Atlantic Journal, and The Associated Foreign Press. His sketch group Inside Joke Films has toured internationally and has a large presence on YouTube. He has directed music videos which have premiered on MTVu and Fuse. Ramy is a producer for The Comedy Charity Explosion, an annual benefit hosted by Steve Way for The Muscular Dystrophy Association. Ramy is also the Artistic Director for the New York Arab American Comedy Festival and a founder of the Middle Eastern sketch group, Sketchy Arabs.
Gary's stand-up explores introspection with a likable twist that's described as: original, smart, and evolving. Initially, Gary attempted stand-up to fill a bucket list check box. He found that the rush from laughter filled the void he missed from competing on the gridiron. Five years later, Gary has quickly advanced through the highly-touted San Francisco comedy scene, and now tours throughout the country. Gary has high hopes that someday someone else will write his bio instead of writing it himself, in third person.
Patrick Hastie is a comedian from Glenwood, Iowa who now lives in Brooklyn, New York. He has toured all over the country and has performed in festivals like the Out of Bounds Comedy Festival, the Orlando Indie Comedy Festival and SF Sketchfest. Patrick co-produces the popular monthly show JACKKNIFE COMEDY at The Creek and The Cave in Queens, he can be heard weekly on THE NOSTALGIC FRONT podcast and he has been featured on The Chive, College Humor and The Interrobang. He is a very nice guy and his 5 year plan is to be cool and live forever!
Originally hailing from San Francisco, CA, Caitlin Peluffo is a comedian currently living in Brooklyn, NY. After a brief six year stint in art school where she studied performative video art (no, really…that’s a thing) she has expanded her talents to the stage. Peluffo has opened for comedians like Gilbert Gottfried, Gary Gulman, Colin Quinn, and the late Kevin Meany. She’s been featured everywhere from New York Comedy Club in the Big Apple to clubs nationwide talking about how she came to be such a lovable loose cannon. She also co-produces two monthly comedy shows in Brooklyn; Thick Wit Comedy with Jill Weiner at the Way Station, and Comedy at Rose Gold with Emily Winter at Rose Gold Cocktail Lounge. No subject is off limits, however, she did make a promise to her mother that she would never, ever discuss that one time she took those ‘whorish, yet tastefully executed’ photos for a guy she used to bang in the military. She may be a patriot, but a promise is a promise.
