Jo Firestone is a comedian whose work can be seen on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Chris Gethard Show, and heard on WFMU and Earwolf. She was recently named a New Face at the 2016 Just for Laughs Festival, and her Comedy Central half hour comes out this fall. If you like puns, check out her board game, Punderdome: A Card Game for Pun Lovers. If you don't like puns, don't worry about it. You can also see Jo doing stand-up in different basements around the city.
Aparna Nancherla is a comedian of the stand-up variety, but can often be seen sitting. Last year, she released her debut album, Just Putting It Out There, on Tig Notaro’s new label, Bentzen Ball Records and recorded a Comedy Central half hour special. This year, she was named one of “The 50 Funniest People Right Now” by Rolling Stone. Currently, you can catch her on the latest seasons of Bojack Horseman, Master of None and Love, all on Netflix, as well as on HBO's Crashing. She's also written for Late Night with Seth Meyers (NBC) and Totally Biased (FX). Aparna will next appear on the upcoming Comedy Central show, Corporate.
Maeve Higgins is the host of the hit podcast Maeve In America: Immigration IRL. She has performed all over the world, including in her native Ireland, Edinburgh, Melbourne and, most recently, Erbil. Now based in New York, she's made a name for herself there too. In a good way! She co-hosts Neil deGrasse Tyson's StarTalk on National Geographic and has appeared in Comedy Central's Inside Amy Schumer. Her work has been published in The New York Times and The Irish Times, and she is writing a book of essays for Penguin due for publication later this year.
After working a million jobs while growing up an only child to a single mother in Delaware, Ian has grown to be a live force and a stand out stand up with a fresh, positive voice in comedy. He can be seen nightly riding his bike(cycle) everywhere sharing his unique point of view and wild stories at places like the Comedy Cellar in New York City's Greenwich Village, Stand Up New York, UCB Theatre, the Creek & the Cave, Union Hall, and The Bell House in Brooklyn. Every month he hosts a live stand up & animation show called "Picture This!" at Union Hall in Park Slope. He'll hit the road often playing clubs and independent venues all across the country, but will usually use his car for that.
Alex has opened for Comedians James Adomian (IFC), Sasheer Zamata (Saturday Night Live) and Hadiyah Robinson (BET), and has even performed in the New York Comedy festival! Not bad for a guy that sometimes wears his underwear backward, right?
Catch him regularly blazing the stage at Stand Up NY comedy club, or co-hosting his free monthly “Cool” comedy show at The Standing Room, In Long Island City, Queens every last Wednesday of the month. He’s traveling these days too, so look out for him in your town! (especially if you’re on jack’d).
In 2014, she was a semifinalist in the NBC StandUp For Diversity competition, and her web series Couch House was an official selection in the 2015 New York Television Festival. Currently, she performs stand up regularly around the New York area and has contributed to the popular satirical website Reductress. She is the lead singer of the "radical" feminist band Free the Mind and her project The Headless Women of Hollywood has been featured on Funny or Die, USA Today, Buzzfeed, Guys We F***cked, AV Club, E!News and more.
