The Chris Gethard Show Presents: Come Take A Ride With The Weirdest Bands We Know

While the bands on this bill might not share commonalities regarding genre, approach, or tone, they do all have one thing in common - each has been a standout musical guest on the public access comedy cult hit known as The Chris Gethard Show. Come celebrate the strange musical underbelly of New York as curated by the same weirdos who transform TCGS from a poorly made comedy show into a poorly made comedy show that features some of the weirdest, best, and most interesting music NYC has to offer. This event will be hosted by Chris Gethard along with many of the oddballs who appear on the show, and will feature not just music but ill advised crowd participation, stunts, and prize giveaways. Come take a ride with the weirdest bands we know.
Big Digits - (Set time: 11:00 PM)

Big Digits is a rap/danceattack/computerkiller project based in Cambridge, MA. MC Mac Swell and TD are the two primary components handling beats, rhymes, and death defying live shows but have recently added the phenomenal live re-mixing skills of DJ Mark E. Moon and DJ Poke Smot. While keeping the original spirit of rap music nearby, they explore the possibilities and avenues of a genre without heed to the dogma or orthodoxy of any style of music. Basically, they make the music that they want and want to make: the music that moves the people. Often hard to describe, Big Digits have been called a lot of things - from “art rap nonsense” (The Village Voice) to “twisted genius” (The Northeast Performer) to “You guys dress like mummies and hit drums and dance, that shit’s awesome” (some dude on the street) - and they kind of all fit.
Stumblebum Brass Band - (Set time: 10:00 PM)

Meet the brass band that no one wants parading down their street.
Even though they have a deep respect and admiration for the art of both Louis Armstrong and Nirvana; the Stumblebums reject nostalgia in favor of riotous spontaneity. Too punk for guitar and amps, The Stumblebums are known for ambushing innocent subway passengers and crashing bars with their post-apocalyptic Lower East Side punk brass sound.

Naked Heroes - (Set time: 9:00 PM)

“No one rocks harder in Brooklyn” - FREEwilliamsburg
“The Naked Heroes 99 Diamond is nothing short of confident, pure, unabashed rock and roll at its finest. - Popmatters
“The Naked Heroes fucking rule ass ultra hard… it’s not often I’m at a loss for words… the shit is super good.” - MAXIMUM ROCKNROLL
“Simply put, this album rocks. Every song on 99 Diamond is so infectious that I’m positive this album stuck on repeat is the sole cause of the Dancing Plague of 1518″ - The Soda Shop

Mindtroll - (Set time: 8:00 PM)

Mindtroll crept up from the Gowanus Canal in early 2010 and has since spent their time honing their inscrutable sound, which is not unlike the angriest children's choir.
