Broken Comedy Presents
Broken Comedy Presents
NYC Broken Comedy is a weekly stand-up comedy
showcase regularly held at Bar Matchless and hosted by comedians/Drs. Mike Denny, Michael Che, and Nimesh Patel. It is 100% Child Proof and has won the top prizes of the NYC Comedy scene including best looking and most funniest. Past shows have featured such New York mainstays as Hannibal Buress, Neal Brennan, Rachel Feinstein and Judah Friedlander. This show will feature comedians that may not be those comedians, but they will be just as great as those comedians. You go now.
Mike Denny
Mike Denny
Mike Denny was born and has been raised on planet earth. Landing in Boston was a cool thing for him as he was forced to be razor sharp with his wits, as quite a few people in that region have been known to be. He has a deep amount of respect for the joke tellers that have come before him. He currently resides in a neighborhood that he used to listen to rappers talk about when he was a child. It is safe now, don't worry. He almost seems like he would do comedy in the rain/sleet/hail if you asked him to.
Michael Che
Michael Che
Michael Che is a stand-up comic from the Lower East Side of Manhattan. As the youngest child of seven, he has been his family's source of comic relief since he was old enough to wear diapers. Growing up with much older siblings, Che became familiar with stand-up comedy at a very young age when he watched Eddie Murphyand Damon Wayans' specials. However, it wasn't until he attended LaGuardia Music and Performing Arts High School that he realized performing could be a future career. Che has been featured at major comedy clubs throughout Manhattan, but has built a name for himself playing alternative rooms in New York's downtown scene.
Nimesh Patel
Nimesh Patel
Nimesh Patel once fought two girls and lost. At his party, he cried not because he wanted to, but because no one showed up. He's violated all of Notorious BIGs 10 crack commandments. His hatred for weathermen is only surpassed by his fear of cats that shed hair. Lastly, he wrote this on the bus this morning, because that's where his life is right now. When he's not busy crying, he performs comedy at colleges and clubs all over. He is from New Jersey, a fact he regrets mildly. Find him on Twitter @findingnimesh. Please. He needs you.
W. Kamau Bell
W. Kamau Bell
As the host and star of the FX show "Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell," Kamau is one of the fastest rising stars in the political comedy world. Praised by Punchline Magazine as “one of our country’s most adept racial commentators with a blistering wit,” Kamau was recently named “Comedian of the Year” by SF Weekly and “Best Comedian” by the SF Bay Guardian. His new stand up album, Face Full of Flour, just made the 10 Best Comedy Albums of 2010 list at both iTunes and Punchline Magazine. Kamau’s critically acclaimed solo show, “The W. Kamau Bell Curve: Ending Racism in About an Hour,” has long sold out runs in San Francisco and enjoyed an extended in New York as part of this year’s soloNova Festival at PS122. Kamau recently performed at the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal, where his set was filmed for HBO Canada, at the New York Comedy Festival, where he was a critic’s pick in Time Out NY, who gave it “FOUR STARS” and offered that, “Bell finds comic gold in the wide range of material he mines, offering provocative insights into an ugly reality.” The SF Weekly has called Kamau “smart, stylish, and very much in the mold of politically outspoken comedians like Dave Chappelle and Margaret Cho,” though he was more excited that they called him “handsome.”
Myq Kaplan
Myq Kaplan
Myq Kaplan recently made his debut on “The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien,” his half-hour “Comedy Central Presents” special debuted earlier this year, and he was recently a Top 5 finalist on the most recent season of Last Comic Standing. He has also appeared on Comedy Central’s “Live at Gotham,” at the New Faces show of the 2009 Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal, was voted 2008’s Best Local Comedian in the Boston Phoenix, and won the 2009 NY’s Funniest Standup Competition.
Rachel Feinstein
Rachel Feinstein
Rachel Feinstein was a finalist on Season 7 of Last Comic Standing, and has been featured on Russell Simmon's Presents, TBS's Just For Laughs series, and Comics Unleashed. She has her own half hour special on Comedy Central special, and has written for "The Onion" and "Heeb Magazine." Rachel has voiced various characters on Adult Swim's "Venture Brothers," the animated Comedy Central web series, "Samurai Love God" and Spike TV’s web series "Battle Pope." She will be releasing her first Comedy CD on Comedy Central records in 2011.
Homo Thugs (Jermaine Fowler & Kevin Barnett)
Homo Thugs (Jermaine Fowler & Kevin Barnett)
On his 20th birthday, Jermaine Fowler, moved to New York City from Washington D.C. with a small suitcase and big dreams. Soon after, he was being acknowledged in the New York Post's 50 Funniest Jokes alongside David Letterman and Jay Leno. He's performed in festivals across the country like the Aspen Rooftop Comedy Festival where he won the Rooftop Comedy Silver Nail Award. He's also performed as a finalist in NBC's Stand Up for Diversity and is currently on tour with Comedy Central. He is regularly featured on CollegeHumor.com and you may recognize him in commercials for SoBe Lifewater, Bud Light, Scion (Comedy Central), and Microsoft Bing. Jermaine was recently chosen by ABC to act in their 10th Annual Diversity Showcase. Now 24, you can catch Jermaine on SyFy's brand new series "Insane or Inspired", Adult Swim's The Eric Andre Show, and the reboot of In Living Color coming this June.

Kevin Barnett is one of the fastest rising comics in NYC. He is also a cool guy, who doesn’t usually smell, and showers relatively regularly. He can be seen on Comedy Central, College Humor, and is a panelist on MTV’s #FAIL. He can also be seen in the independent film ‘How to Follow Strangers’ and in Mike Birbiglia’s feature film, Sleepwalk With Me, to be realeased later this year. Kevin was a standout new face at the Montreal Just For Laughs Comedy Festival this past summer, and co-host one of the best podcasts in NY: The Roundtable of Gentlemen.
