Marc Ribot's Ceramic Dog - (Set time: 8:45 PM)
Marc Ribot's Ceramic Dog
1. chien de faience: expression: frozen with emotion, as in the perfectly still moment before a fight breaks out.

2. Ultimate kitsch object.

3. A free/punk/funk/experimental/psychedelic/post electronica collective,

featuring marc ribot (cubanos postizos, john zorn, tom waits, etc etc), plus two of the best young players on the new york/california underground improv/experimental rock scene, shahzad ismaily - bass/electronics (Will Oldham, Secret Chiefs 3, Jolie Holland, 2 Foot Yard) and ches smith - drums (Xiu Xiu, Good for Cows, Secret Chiefs 3)

4. Not a 'project': a real band.

"Marc Ribot's new power trio, filled out by the remarkable versatile rhythm team of bassist Shahzad Ismaily and drummer Ches Smith, is his rawest band in ages." (TimeOut NY)

"Marc Ribot's Ceramic Dog, whose style is experimental...though much more pleasing on the ears, was one of the best surprises of the festival." - AV Club review at All Tomorrow's Parties Festival 2011 curated by Portishead
Marco Cappelli's Italian Surf Academy - (Set time: 7:30 PM)

Francesco Cusa - drums
special guest Gaia Mattiuzzi - voice

Take one Italian guitarist active in the Downtown Improvisation and New Music scene – combine with youthful influences of movie music and Spaghetti Westerns – mix well with a love of ‘60s Surf Sound (think The Ventures, Beach Boys, etc.) bathed in reverb – anchor with a solid rhythm section of bass and drums… and you get the Italian Surf Academy! The baddest bad Morricone you’ve ever heard!

Cappelli explains the genesis of the project: “Back then in the ‘50s - ‘70s, the U.S. was more than a geographic place, it was a concept which we dreamed of belonging to: the prairies, a cowboy on his horse riding into the sunset encompassed by that warm guitar sound with a lot of reverb. This image was made up by the American movie industry and copied in many movies with a “made in Italy” label, shouted in Italy or abroad by Italian directors. That’s why we decided to work on our “Italian Surf Sound” version.
