Carla Morrison - (Set time: 10:15 PM)
Carla Morrison
Mexican Songstress Carla Morrison returns with her follow-up to last years Latin GRAMMY nominated album Mientras Tu Dormias- Dejenme Llorar (Out On Carla Morrison Musica/Cosmica Records OUT NOW) Her most personal and fully realized record to date.

Co-Produced by Juan Manuel Torreblanca (from the group Torreblanca) and Chilean expatriate via Mexico City artist Andres Landon- Morrison chose to hole up in her soon to be vacated apartment on the quiet streets of her beloved hometown of Tecate, Baja California to record what would become Dejenme Llorar. Having the music already pen to paper, notes on tape- Torreblanca and Landon along with Tijuana-based musician/engineer Alejandro Jimenez (of the up and coming band Los Rhodes) recorded for 2 intense (and intensely hot) weeks. The near empty apartment was adorned with a few couches to sleep on, bed mattresses were used to sound proof the bedroom, which served as the live/recording room. Using the Innovation of Imagination, Carla and Co. used unorthodox means of recording. Rather than trying to isolate the vocals in a closet or separate room- Carla had her vocal mic set up on the apartment balcony overlooking her beloved Tecate. Pans filled with water, beans, along with utilizing found harpsichords and utensils- the record took on a life of it's own. Guest musicians in this phase of the recording included Guitar/Guitarron Player Gloria Estrada from the Latin GRAMMY nominated act La Santa Cecilia and drummer Carlos Maria. Recording then moved to Mexico City where Leonel Garcia contributed background vocals on the title track, Solo artist Sol Pereyra performed Trumpet. iTunes U.S. Latino and iTunes Mexico has named the track "Me Encanta" their Cancion de la semana- please click on the iTunes Banner below to download now:

Dejenme Llorar is a body or work which should be sold with a box of Kleenix and at the same time uplifting in that "i'mgoingtogetthroughthis" kind of way. The record sonically is a bridge between the sparse looping of her first EP Aprediendo A Aprender and the full bodied-Natalia LaFourcade- produced Mientras Tu Dormias. Morrison holds absolutely nothing back, from the Guitarron-fueled 2nd Single "Hasta La Piel" to the lovers lament "Olvide", which then brings you to the 1950's era Mazzy Star inspired "Eres Tu".

Carla has made major in-roads since releasing her self-produced debut EP back in 2010. She has toured the U.S. and currently is enjoying a huge wave of success in her native Mexico and will be touring Europe for the first time this spring.

Dejenme Llorar continues that upward trajectory as iTunes has released 3 Exclusive Singles ramping up to the release of the album.
La Santa Cecilia - (Set time: 11:15 PM)
La Santa Cecilia
La Santa Cecilia was recently nominated for a 2011 Latin Grammy for their hit song "La Negra" and is spreading this joy and excitement doing west coast tour support for L.A super house Ozomatli to close out the year!!!

“The music of the Los Angeles band La Santa Cecilia places the group in the late-20th-century movement of Latino musicians in California who search out a wider variety of traditions than their musical ancestors did to create a new pan-Latino aesthetic.” NPR

La Santa Cecilia exemplifies the modern-day creative hybrid. In an era and city in which Latin culture has given birth to many musical fusions, The Los Angeles based six-member band creatively combines up-tempo South American rhythms like Cumbia and Bossa Nova with the nostalgic Bolero and passionate Tango, blending in Afro-Cuban percussion, Rock with Jazzy tunes to bring about a mix that defies any particular label or musical genre. The band’s sound is accentuated by singer Marisoul’s haunting voice, which delivers its message of love, loss and heartbreak in a strong, sensual and powerful performance that leaves crowds mesmerized and women justified in La Santa’s colorful and fiesta-like live shows.

La Santa Cecilia solidifies its successes with its new EP titled “Noche y Citas”, which recently garnished a Latin Grammy nomination for the track "La Negra" produced by 4 time American GRAMMY® winner and 8 time Latin GRAMMY© Awards producer and engineer Sebastian Krys whose credits include a roster of Latin music’s super star recording artists such as: Carlos Vives, Luis Fonsi, Rabanes, Kinky, Ricky Martin and Shakira to name only a few.
