Hot Tub with Kurt and Kristen

Hosted by Kurt Braunohler and Kristen Schaal, this weekly variety show features comedy from New York's best comics and sketch groups, new music, and the occasional oddity.
The Gregory Brothers

The Gregory Brothers’ unique musical stylings and comic rapport was largely formed when Evan, Michael, and Andrew began making zany mix-tapes in their living room in Radford, Virginia as tiny babies. These (sadly lost) seminal works of musical comedy gently gestated for a few years until 2007, when the brothers joined forces with a bright-eyed lass from Texas. This musical collaboration with Evan’s wife, Sarah, was forged in the fiery crucible of an un-air-conditioned van during a summer tour that year. These sweaty bonds shall never be broken. After having experienced the elation of sharing their original country & soul, folk ‘n’ roll tunes with several dozen people on that home-grown, 50 show tour, they began making their wildly viral YouTube series, “Auto-Tune the News” in 2008. Their meager hope was that several dozen more people would bump their rumps to C-Span if it thumped with a bass line and a beat. While they continue to work on making their YouTube jams, The Gregory Brothers now tour the country speaking at colleges, playing at rock and comedy clubs, and are in the process of making a pilot for Comedy Central.
John Roy

A recipient of life saving heart surgery, John Roy grew up an only child in Chicago's ethnically diverse Rogers Park neighborhood. John's parents were an ex Jesuit who worked for Chicago's urban Loyola University, and a psychotherapist, who infused a love of the arts and philosophy into the boy from an early age. He repaid their efforts by becoming a stand up comedian. John began his career performing in independent rooms in Chicago. After honing his act in clubs around the Midwest, John competed and was crowned the first champion of CBS' “Star Search,” in 2003. He has performed stand up on numerous television shows, including “The Tonight Show,” “The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson,” and “Last Comic Standing,” where he was a semi-finalist. He made his debut on “Conan,” in 2012. He has appeared numerous times as a panelist on cable networks like VH-1, Fox News, and Fuel TV.
Jeff Maurer

Jeff Maurer is one of the fastest-rising comedians on the East Coast. My - I mean his - quick wit and affable personality have made me a hit with audiences of all ages. Jeff split his childhood between Oregon, Kentucky, Washington state, and Virginia, and his diverse experiences in those places shaped my unique perspective on the world. After college and a brief stint in the Peace Corps, Jeff began performing comedy, and my sharp insights and friendly demeanor quickly earned him a reputation as one of the most promising comics of my generation. I have performed at clubs including the DC Improv, Baltimore Comedy Factory, Arlington Cinema Drafthouse, Wiseacres, State Theatre, and many more. Was any of the previous paragraph written in the first person? If so, then I, an objective biography writer, made a mistake. My apologies. Jeff currently resides in the Washington, DC area with his wife, though this may not have been updated in a while. He is available for parties and events, where my sharp wit and affable demeanor, as well as his quick insights and friendly personality, plus his affable insights, quick personality, sharp friendly, and other variations thereof, are sure to be a hit.
