DEATH BY AQUAVIT! A Scandinavian SxSW Send-Off

Ikea ain't the only thing Scandinavian in Brooklyn these days. littlefield is proud to present the first annual “Death by Aquavit!” A Scandinavian SxSW Send-off with everything a good SouthbySouthwest day party should have -- Scandi-grub, drink specials including aquavit, their national liquor, and of course the very best of contemporary Scandinavian beat music.

We'll leave it to the BBC to describe a Casiokids show: "(...)The band basically started a party on stage that emanated into the crowd like beams from the sun - warming all of us who presumably swam there. They swapped instruments, pogo jumped around stage and changed cow bell duties every few minutes. Pineapple shakers, multicolored drum sticks and grinning faces convinced the crowd as they played some absolutely brilliant pop songs." Well said, BBC.

THE GOOD THE BAD [DK]

The Good The Bad are neither just good, nor bad & they’re definitely not ugly. They’re three Danish desperados, bringing the finest New School Surf & Flamenco to the worthy masses. In fact, their lip-trembling, bone-rattling, hip-shaking dirty cool has been increasing the birth-rate in Denmark by the day ever since their own explosive conception just two years ago. True story.

SPLEEN UNITED [DK]

Don't tell the others, but this is one of our favorite Danish bands. Ever. NME said "a magnificent electro-rock outfit from Denmark, who make rich chunky electro-rock that leaves you feeling woozy and strangely satisfied." We say that's not even half of it. Spleen United is massive.

THE MEGAPHONIC THRIFT [NO]

These young Norwegians are returning to the US after completely stealing the show at their native festival by:Larm in February. This is what WOXY.com had to say about the recent performance: "The band clearly are a few steps ahead of most of their countrymen in terms of sound and stage presence, ripping through a fast but thick four song set of straight up rock n’ roll thunderbolts. Young American bands like Grooms and Twin Tigers might envy the sound of “The Thrift”, who seem to effortlessly cause your jaw to hit the floor." Bam!
