Kate Havnevik & Friends

Norwegian singer and writer Kate Havnevik has been working on her much-anticipated follow up to 'Melankton' with long-time collaborator Guy Sigsworth. You might know Kate’s songs and voice from Grey’s Anatomy, various other TV shows, from Royksopp’s second record The Understanding or Carmen Rizzo’s 2 solo albums. The new album, yet untitled, is scheduled for release in the fall. Kate wrote and recorded most of the album in Krakow, Poland, where she and Guy set up a studio. The album is pretty much finished, it's just a matter of a few tweaks to the mixes and some magic dust to be sprinkled on top. You might know Kate’s songs and voice from Grey’s Anatomy or Royksopp’s second record The Understanding. Kate will play a rare solo set at Littelfield and have several guests and friends contributing to the night. This will be her last NYC show in a few months and it will be out of the ordinary. Next US visit will be a tour with Owl city in September.

Yet Cut Breath

A constantly evolving project, Yet Cut Breath is a Brooklyn based indie-acoustic group born from the turbulent and tender songwriting of Anna Morsett. Featuring the talents of John Swartz on cello and Missy Liu on violin, the band bends itself expertly around Anna's percussive, guitar-driven melodies and stormy voice to create a sincere and moving performance. Playing out locally (SpikeHill, Glasslands, Littlefield, WOW Theater Cafe, Potion), YCB is also gearing up to hit the studios to record their first EP! Stay tuned!

Lumendog

Lumendog is an electro-acoustic group working with improvisational and rules-based pieces. Their music ranges from ambient and textural to fierce and rhythmic, exploring the sounds of acoustic instruments and electronics, and often incorporating live visuals as another "instrument". The core members bring bass clarinet, haromonica, synthesizer, guitar, drums, the unique Pencilina, and live performative video to the group, and guests range from additional visualists to all types of musicians. Formed in 2008 and based in Brooklyn, NY, Lumendog meets and records weekly, using any impetus -- A word, a note, an idea -- to push themselves outside the comfort zones of their instruments and into challenging the sonic boundaries between their instruments.

ApSci

Featured in this year's URB Next 100, ApSci’s new album ‘Best Crisis Ever’ (out in August) is intricately designed. Dana’s warm voice is a versatile instrument that adds an alluring depth and charm to Ra’s complex, detailed production and biting lyricism. NPR’s All Songs Considered called ApSci’s single ‘Crazy Crazy Insane’ “incredibly contagious”. In the family of Gnarls Barkley & Santigold, ApSci blend elements from electronica, pop, hip-hop and R&B into quirky electro-pop that has appeal to everyone from mainstream radio listeners to underground heads chasing the latest beat. If this is the next generation of pop music, ApSci can only be considered one of its brightest new faces.
